The Basics

Personal Property Coverage: The cost to replace the stuff you own—from your furniture and clothes to electronics and jewelry—is often more than you might realize. With this policy, those personal possessions are covered.

Additional Living Expenses: If you’re unable to live in your unit temporarily due to a covered loss, this policy pays for living expenses such as food and lodging until you are back home.

Liability and Medical Payments: Sometimes accidents happen, people get hurt and property gets damaged. If you’re held responsible, you could be facing medical bills, repair costs and even lawsuits. This policy, provides coverage for incidents that happen at your residence.

Dwelling: In the event of an incident you may need to insure your unit’s interior with dwelling coverage. This is also known as building property coverage, and you may need it depending on which kind of master policy your HOA carries.

Loss Assessment: If your HOA surpasses the limits of its master policy, each unit owner might need to contribute funds to make up the difference. If you have loss assessment coverage on your condo insurance, this sum may be partially or totally covered.
